Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Seekers and Planners parties.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
