Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an better serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to force a third set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
